Debbie is the principal teacher and owner of The Anderson School of Dance.
Debbie has danced for over 28 years starting with Ballet at the age of 6, then progressing onto Latin American, Ballroom and Freestyle Disco. Debbie completed all of her medals under the training of Mr and Mrs Yard from the Walderslade School of Dancing. There, Debbie realised her passion was in Freestyle Disco and Latin American Dance of which she loved. Debbie stayed at the school until Mr and Mrs Yard retired and then decided to open up her own Dance School teaching Freestyle Disco, and so The Anderson School of Dance was born.
Over the years Debbie has tried various styles of dancing starting with Ballet, then going into Ballroom, Latin American, Freestyle Disco and Line Dancing (of which Debbie was 1995/96 Line Dance Champion), then Ceroc and Salsa for fun and more recently to broaden her knowledge and expand her skills taking modern jazz, theatre craft and tap classes!!
Debbie has recently created the Latino Fusion Fitness classes using all her Latin American skills to make a full-on fitness class that is fun and tones the body in style!!
Debbie is a fully qualified dance teacher with the IDTA (International Dance Teachers Association) and hopes to expand her teaching qualifications in the not too distant future to open classes in other subjects.
Dancing always has and always will be Debbie’s one love. The school is her number one priority. She enjoys teaching and sharing her love for dance with others.
Lauren has been at the school for nearly 4 years in between raising 2 lovely boys.
Laurens dance experience began as a small child attending the same Dance School as Debbie, little did they know years later they would end up with Lauren attending Debbie’s Adult class and becoming more involved within the school
Lauren loves Dance and really enjoys helping out with the classes. She is very dedicated and always ensures she is there to help on a weekly basis.
Being an ex School Teacher Lauren is brilliant with the kids and keeps them firmly on their toes.
Naomi has had many years dance experience being trained along side Debbie at the Walderslade School of Dancing taking medals in Ballroom, Latin American and Freestyle Disco.
Naomi has a vast knowledge of dance and enjoys sharing it with pupils of all ages. Even though Naomi has a full-time job to three wonderful children she is always willing to help out at class when she can and tries to get to various classes 1 to 2 evenings per week.
Naomi is friendly and easy-going, and gets on really well with everyone.
Lorna has been coming to The Anderson School of Dance dropping off her eldest daughter for approximately 8 years (and also her youngest daughter for the last couple of years too!) however, during the last 2 years she has become heavily involved within the school.
Lorna now helps out with the administration during class times and generally keeping all the pupils happy and under control. Lorna has attended the Adult Classes for sometime and is a keen dancer.
Lorna is very supportive of the School and is an invaluable helper at each class, even though she has 3 lovely children of her own to look after, as well as working alongside other peoples children in her day job!!
Daphne is Debbie’s Mum!!! Whenever there is any sewing needed for the shows or general outfits Daphne is there. More often than not Daphne is known to be up in the early hours creating outfits or sewing on sequins.
Daphne is a general all-round helper for the school, from making tea for examiners, keeping the pupils under control to helping backstage at shows and organising changes.
Daphne is a keen dancer too, always attending the Adult Classes and now also the Latino Fusion Fitness Class!! As she says… “If I can do it, other older people can too!! Its great exercise and relaxes the mind”.
‘Mum’ has always been there to support Debbie and the school 100% although she has a job that keeps her very busy as well.
Mum, Lauren, Lorna and Naomi are all invaluable helpers at the school. Debbie is very lucky to have them all and very much appreciates what they do.
